The pigs have themselves a new shelter. Not only will it shelter them from the sun but, it also is continually creating and storing energy from the sun. It is not connected to the grid yet but after a county electrical inspection the electric company can put the final connections once that is done it will begin to create and store power.
The set up in theory will create more than enough energy for us and pay us for what we do not use. This brings our electric bill way down saving us money to put back into the farm.

These solar panels can be placed on the roof of your house as well as on a ground scaffold like ours. They are maintenance free and will pay for themselves in about 15 years. We chose to make the jump because currently there are many federal and state tax rebates on for the next 2 years. We will also be getting a whole new furnace including a heat pump to keep our propane costs down. These investments will make it possible to save money, energy and worry for many years while helping our little corner of the earth by keeping our carbon footprint as low as we can.
