new barn dogs

10/01/2021

Last year we attempted to get some livestock guardian dogs and it was a miserable bust. We will attempt again this year with hopes that the last attempt was the dogs' fault and not ours.

If you have been around for a while, you know that we had to give up a couple of great Pyrenees dogs in 2020. Our first attempt was scary and heartbreaking. We paid a lot of money to eventually have a dog shot and the pair were given to a rescue because we were way over our head.

fast forward to this fall. I was roaming through Facebook marketplace, and I spotted a new LGD opportunity. Meet Charlie and Sadie; Charlie's head is boxier, and he has freckles on his nose, Sadie is a smidge smaller and has cream-colored ears. They are 2 years old, non-related, intact, pure bred Great Pyrenees. They are well behaved, gentle, and respectful of most things. Although Charlie does enjoy chasing a chicken around the farm occasionally. As a pair there are moments of food aggression, but it is usually because Charlie woofs his food down and then attempts to eat Sadie's.
